Lavender has been gracing our homes and gardens since time began. With its perfume and medicinal properties, not to mention its rich hues, lavender is still one of Britains' favourite herbs. During the 17th century lavender was renowned for its herbal qualities. Curing headaches, calming nerves and soothing insect stings, were just a few of the uses for this versatile herb. During World War One when antiseptic was in short supply, lavender was collected from the gardens of the British public. The oil from the lavender was used to dress war wounds. Today lavender is still as popular as ever and is used both medicinally and for pleasure. Its sustainability throughout the centuries is a testimony to its special properties.
